After watching Kezia Williams and Chris Besseling I had a very good understanding of what factors are needed to be focused in for a film t...
BIRTH OF A NATION: Excellent level of detail and understanding in your analysis of this trailer which you present in an infographic with images to support your points. You show excellent understanding of key narrative devices such as the focus on Nat Turner's key role, the use of close-ups and their impact, the function of montages and how sound & music are used. You identify the turning point in the narrative, which leads the audience to understand that the narrative arc will lead to both conflict and resolution.
ReplyDeleteAMERICAN SNIPER: Excellent level of detailed textual analysis showing sound understanding of how this trailer functions as an advertisement for the film. You grasp the film's USP: that it is about more than an American professional sniper, although its is clearly a realistic war film with a biographical narrative to deliver: in your analysis of the cross-cutting you demonstrate your grasp of how the character is also a man with a conscience who makes significant and telling connections between the task he is bent on doing and his private life as a father and husband.
ReplyDeleteGRAVITY: Excellent work. Your third infographic, like the first two, is beautifully organised, well laid out and efficiently illustrated to support your points. From the start, you pick up on the impact of the silence and the inter-titles, then continue to develop useful points about the use of sound to shape the audience's experience. You grasp how immersive this trailer's camerawork and editing is in making a gripping experience.
